chicken wire love.

i can’t wait for the day when a little chicken coop occupies my backyard, but until then, i’m happy to have a touch of chicken wire around the house!

i originally put this together {ok, i asked the hubs to put it together for me} because the geometric pattern matches the honeycomb background on our summer soiree party theme.  i loved the idea of clipping party favors, place cards, notes, pictures or decorative items to the wire and placing it on display.

the one pictured above will find a home on the wall above tilly’s bed & serve as a bulletin board…..  or maybe a hair pretty holder.

i wasn’t able to take pictures of this little project, but if you would like to make one of your own, here’s how the hubs did it:

MATERIALS:  roll of chicken wire {home depot}, old window frame, picture frame or molding to make your own frame, staple gun, wire cutters, electrical tape {optional – to cover up the pointy edges of the wire}

1. lay chicken wire over your frame and staple around edges until secure.

2. trim excess wire with wire cutters.

3. if the pattern looks a little spars, repeat the above two steps.

4. cover raw edges of wire with electrical tape {optional}.

that’s it!  just a few easy steps.

hope everyone is having a fun week!  it’s just about time for me to put together a menu for food friday, so if you have any ideas or a favorite recipe web site, please send them my way!
