For Mother’s Day this year, I received an iPhone (yay, me!). While at the store purchasing this gift, my husband felt strongly that I shouldn’t leave without buying a case. Seemed like a harmless request, what with 4 kids and a friend who has had a few iphone mishaps (sorry Kendra! Ha!). So I dug through the displays but wasn’t jiving with any designs and being the sweet talker I am, managed to swap the case request for some clear sticky shields so I don’t scratch up the screen. Since then, I’ve talked to a few ladies who have had similar phone buying experiences with their husbands…. funny.
Once we got home, I promptly hopped onto amazon and purchase a few clear plastic covers to decorate myself. Here is how the project turned out:
For the first case I got my favorite nail polish colors out,
and painted triangles and dots randomly.
I also tried painting a layer of glitter polish, but the brush streaks showed up. When I used nail polish remover to try and start over it made the plastic foggy. So I ended up tossing the case and starting over without using the glitter polish. 2 for 3 is not bad!
And the finished design turned out pretty cute.
Next, I broke out some simple supplies and embellished with fabric:
Clear plastic case, paper, scissors, pencil and fabric. Trace your case onto the paper, staying close to the case and also tracing the camera lens hole. You can also skip this step and trace directly onto the fabric, but I wanted to keep the template for future use. Then cut your tracing out and trace onto your fabric. Cut out (again), and lay in your case. Trim fabric as needed and your done!
I used our multi color ikat fabric, found ( H E R E ).
This case accompanied me over the weekend while I was away with friends for a church retreat and received several complements…. always a nice surprise!
This tutorial is for an iPhone case, but I believe you can purchase similar cases for blackberries and such. Just do a little search on Amazon.
If you like our toot, share or pin and as always, let us know what you think!
