JULY <3ing.... insta dump

The other day while chatting with a friend she asked a simple question, “what have you been up to?”….  (crickets)….  I say, “OMG, we’ve been so busy, but I’m not really sure what we’ve been doing!?”

Been there?

It’s moments like this that I am ridiculously appreciative of insta.gram (phone camera, facebook, etc.).  Hard evidence that I have in fact been doing something other than changing diapers.  No offense, Griffey.

So, here is what our family was up to in July….

C A M P I N G   with   F R I E N D S

1. the 6 of us loaded into the mini-van i swore i would never own (but now would never give-up) with all of our camping gear & realized very quickly that we needed to purchase a roof storage thingy.  it was a cozy ride.  2. the kids spent hours if not days digging in the sand & wandering down the beach.  sweet freedom.   3.  they also loaded into a truck bed and went for a ride looking for deer – “deer hunting”.  they love this & the moms enjoy peace and quite before the bedtime rush.  genius.   4.  griffey in a stache.  need i say more?   5. stole a few minutes of R&R with handsome and a glass of wine.  did i mention he was puking the first night we were camping?  let’s just say that murphy’s law is a live and well.

B I R T H D A Y S  (grandma great, espen, & griffin!)

6.  grandma great celebrated her 91st birthday.  feliz cumpleanos grandma. mexican restaurants are the best.  i might be part mexican.  and really random.  7.   party favors for espen’s party (available here)  8.  a couple victims of espen’s shaving cream fight party.  the only way you can be filthy clean.   9.  ice cream birthday sandwiches instead of cake (tutorial here).   10.  holla at the party moms.  don’t let our big sunglasses fool you.  we are actually pretty dorky.  11. six.   12. a pre-party costco outing.  always entertaining.  and eventful.

F A M I L Y  time.

13.  simple (yummy) pasta dish from the monthly spread (want to join me for dinnertime?… power in numbers 🙂.   14. i may or may not have been working on christmas projects while listening to christmas music.   15. guess who started climbing stairs?  boi’s got skilz.   16.  espen getting “slibers” out of tilly’s foot.  how can they be so sweet and then so mean?  it’s like they are siblings or something.  17.  ozzie and my handsome man headed east for a baseball tournament.  espen went to gamma’s & the two littles went with auntie w. & uncle m.  i stayed home.  all. by. myself.   18.  and watched my new favorite movie.  19.  and tried out a new hairstyle and apparently thought it was camera worthy.  i mean, who doesn’t take pictures of their hair?

Inquiring minds want to know, how do you document your day-to-day happenings?  Let us know in the comments below.

Happy last day of July, friends!

Rae, I love this. I keep our memories documented by doing a recap every Monday on the blog of our weekend. It makes me intentional about how we spend it with Daddy being home from work and the pace {usually} slowing down. It makes me intentional about writing our memories down and seeing our changes as we grow older…weekend by weekend. Much easier than scrapbooking. I gave that up a long time ago.
